In my paintings I aim to express the states of stillness, expansion, and awe that I experience in my encounters with the natural world. I walk, hike and drive around the region, sketching along the way in crayon or pastel. I return to my studio and do larger versions of these in oil on canvas. There, my impressions become further distilled. With each painting, I invite the viewer to have an encounter with their own interior, and the ways it relates to the grander world of the seen and unseen.
